Top Winter Beauty Hacks!
Winter is upon us. And boy is it cold !!
As beautiful as the natural scenery is to admire during winters it can wreak havoc in your beauty regime. Your beautiful, supple and shiny skin & hair can transform into dull, drab and totally dreadful if you don’t take proper care.
Don’t worry girls! You can keep your skin and hair looking and feeling awesome even during the dreary cold months. You just have to make a few slight changes to your beauty kit.
Here is a list of 5 winter must-haves for every girl out there.
Life can be so simple if everything was a life hack. Use the following simple hacks for your winter beauty regime.
1. Use colourless lip balm as hand moisturizer
Yes, your old chapstick can be used to moisturize your hands. Winter dries out our hands the most as we keep washing them and then reapplying moisturizer. In case you forgot to carry your moisturizer (I do, all the time) then your chapstick or tub of lipbalm can come in handy. Use the chapstick to rub over your hands and blend into your skin. Make sure it is not super tinted. Go for colourless preferably, unless you want electric pink hands.
Bonus: You can moisturize your feet too if you want.
2. Use Petroleum Jelly to remove your Make-up
Petroleum jelly is the most wonderful beauty invention of all time. Everyone suffers from dry skin during winters but if you suffer from dry skin during summers too, then you need this hack in your life. Instead of cleansers that dry out your skin even more, use petroleum jelly to remove your make-up. It will keep your skin moisturized and supple. Wash off with a good moisturizing face-wash and apply your favorite winter facial moisturizer after.
3. Use salt, sugar and honey as a lip scrub
Winter months are the most taxing on your lips. They can become dry and flaky and honestly dry lips annoy the hell outta me. I use a mixture of different scrubs for exfoliating my lips. This one is however my favorite for winters. Mix a little granulated salt, granulated sugar and honey in a bowl. They apply over your lips and rub in gentle circular motions for 2-3 minutes. Then wash off. Your lips will feel magical after this scrub. Honey helps in moisturizing, while salt and sugar scrubs off the dry skin.
4. Hide your Red Nose with Concealer
Personally I am grateful I don’t turn into Rudolph – the red nosed reindeer during winters but I have witnessed quite a few folks who do. This redness is caused by the dryness of the skin around the nose. It can also be because you are down with the flu or something. Whatever, the reason maybe, the only way to cure it is to constantly moisturize with a good quality moisturizer and keep reapplying throughout the day. In case, you have to go out somewhere maybe a meeting or a date, then just apply concealer over the red areas on your nose and blend into your skin. Apply the concealer first before you put on the rest of your make-up.
5. Dry hair and static build-up
Dry hair is my bane. Even in summers my curly locks are super dry. Winters can wreak havoc on my hair to be honest. I combat dry hair in winter by religiously applying hair oil (coconut, almond, castor oil) to my locks atleast 2-10 hours before shampooing. I follow my shampoo with a good conditioner and then apply a leave-in conditioner as well. I limit the use of heat styling tools on my hair. Static can also build up in hair. To combat that use a dryer sheet and rub it over your hair and then go ahead and wear your favorite winter hat.
Use the above hacks to keep your beauty regime on track during winters and you can rock your looks in the coming holidays. 🙂
