Women’s Day sounds quite funny. Not to be offensive, but it gives the same feeling as Independence Day or Republic Day. We become patriotic souls for just 2 days of the year and the rest of the year you can see people finding it too difficult to even standing up for the national anthem in cinema theatre’s (now that you must be relieved).

Women’s Day is not respecting and treating women as a superior human being just on this day.

This women’s day, all we want to acquaint you with is, feminism and feminist are not vulgar words or fancy ones.

Feminism is a belief that you do not support gender discrimination and see the individual as they are, irrespective of their sex.

Please treat the women around you, like you treat yourself. No special attention or no extra caring, irony is, that makes us more uncomfortable.

Women want to be treated the same as men do. We want to be independent, not all of us want to get married and get “settled”.

• Why do you think women don’t require much education since they have to end up being a housewife?
• Why do you think women cannot compete with men physically? Did you not ever hear about Karnam Malleshwari, Kunjarani Devi?
• Why do you think all women depend on their boyfriends or husbands to get expensive things?

The list is endless. Just treat women as an equal. Women are not born for slogging day and night for providing comforts to their husbands. They have their own set of dreams and aspirations.

Don’t tell them to wear certain piece of clothing.

Don’t tell them to play games meant for girls.

Don’t tell them to sit properly.

Don’t tell them to not hang out with boys.

Don’t tell them to get married.

Don’t tell them to bear children.

Don’t tell them to keep quiet if they get beaten by their husband.
