Myth Buster – Eating ‘Carbs’ is bad for Health!
To be healthy we all need to eat a balanced diet. Balancing a diet is actually balancing ‘Carbs’, ‘Proteins’ and ‘Fats’ that we intake daily. The ratio of these 3 if assumed correctly will automatically imply that you are eating a healthy balanced diet irrespective of what shape or weight you are in currently.
Eating carbs is important for your health because you have to fulfill the daily nutritional requirements of your body. Otherwise you might become victim to chronic illnesses and be malnutritioned in general.
Adults should ideally get 40-60% of their daily calorie requirement from carbs.
While some carbs are labelled bad, not all of them are bad for your health. It is the type of carbs you eat that matter.
The Good and Bad Carbs
Good carbs that those that are absorbed slowly into our bodies, and do not cause spikes in blood sugar levels. Some examples are fruits, veggies, beans and whole grains. Health risks can be greatly reduced if we do not consume bad carbs such as refined and processed wheat, bread, pasta etc. These do not contain any beneficial fiber.
